Capt. Mike Tappero

Mike grew up fishing and hunting in Rhode Island, chasing ducks, geese, whitetail deer and everything with fins(largemouth bass, trout, stripedbass and tuna) After attending URI, he left for Alaska and started guiding full time in 2002.  He then spent the next 7 years splitting his time between Alaska guiding for salmon, trout and dolly varden , and the Florida Keys fishing for mahi, wahoo, sailfish, tuna and all the assorted reef fish, along with tarpon, bonefish and permit on the flats, while spending the fall/winter chasing puddlers, divers and seaducks back in New England.

Mike moved to Maui in 2009, where he ran charter boats fishing heavy tackle for blue marlin, mahi, ono(wahoo) and tuna.  Spending 11 months in Hawaii, and the month of January up in the Bering Sea guiding for king eiders, harlequin, scoter and oldsquaw.

Having run boats from nearly the time he could walk, Mike is experienced operating vessels from 10 ft skiffs to 60 ft sportfishers and everything in between.  On a professional level, he's chased fish from freshwater to saltwater with light tackle, heavy tackle and flyfishing. Chased ducks from teal to king eiders. And chased game with gun and archery equipment around  the world.

This diversity is what makes Coyote Consultants extremely well equipped to help guide you on your trophy adventures, no matter what species you are chasing or equipment you choose to use.  We've seen, and done most of it firsthand.
