KING EIDER HUNT
season: late december to late january
St. Paul Island, Alaska., made famous by the numerous fur seals, and the show The Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel, is the wintering home to thousands of King Eiders. The hunts are run late in the season to ensure fully plumed birds, excellent for taxidermy.
Operating in remote Alaska in the middle of winter is no joke, that's why we operate out of the safest and most powerful vessels. The hunting is done on the open ocean, and our captains have a combined 40+ years of experience navigating on the seas of Alaska. Hunting from the boats, over spreads of custom decoys, rolling over the swells of the Bering Sea is an experience you'll never forget! Scooping a mature king eider out of those same swells into your hands has been described as a religious experience by seasoned waterfowlers!
On days when Mother Nature doesn't allow you to safely hunt from boats, we hunt from the rocks pass shooting the numerous flocks of kings as they fly the coast towards their feeding grounds up north.
This is a king eider hunt, and that is the focus, but there is a chance at harlequins, whitewing scoter, and oldsquaw as well.
